Predictions on the detection of tidal streams with Gaia

In a recent paper (Mateu et al, 2017) we have used cosmological simulations to predict the number of tidal stellar streams that can be detected with Gaia.

We have shown that Gaia can detect, on average, 8-13 tidal streams, potentially doubling the number of known streams in the Milky Way.
